Google is the old version of Google Maps completely in the very near future. Google quietly announced this in a help forum saying the new version will be updated to drop support for the old version of Google Maps.The of Google Maps came out of preview back in February 2014 and was in beta for several months before that. The only way to access the old version of Google Maps was via a special URL or if you had a very old browser that did not support the new version of Google Maps.Will you be out of luck if you are still on an old browser?

Google said they launched a brand new “Lite mode” of Google Maps just for those will really slow connections or older browsers. It drops out many of the neat Google Maps features in exchange for speed and compatibility.Abby from the Google Maps team said:In 2013, we previewed a new version of desktop Maps and since then, we’ve been continually improving the product to provide a richer, more engaging, and more helpful mapping experience. We will soon be rolling out the updated version of Google Maps to everyone.

We covered it, and if you go down to the comments, you'll find that a lot of users aren't happy with the changes made to Maps.There's even a dedicated to hating on Google Maps 7. Hate on, haters.When using an Android device, with system apps such as Google Maps, you're able to uninstall app updates and revert back to the factory version of the app.

But before you uninstall any updates, you're going to need to disable automatic app updates in the Play Store. This will prevent Google Maps from automatically updating itself moments after you revert back to the previous version.

Using Google Maps On Android

Tap on the auto-update apps option and disable it. Now that that's out of the way, launch the system Settings app on your device and find the Apps option. After opening Apps, scroll to the right twice to view all installed apps.Screenshot by Jason Cipriani/CNET. Scroll down the list until you find Maps, and tap on it. On the next screen you'll see a big button titled 'Uninstall updates.' Going forward you'll have an update waiting in the Play app for Maps, but as long as you don't update, you'll be able to continue on with the older version.

If you do accidentally update at some point, you can always repeat the above steps to revert back again.
